Back on the road

A few years ago I had a knee problem that lasted longer than I expected. Health problems are never pleasant and in this case it was no exception. Although during that time I was able to continue leading a ‘normal life’, the problem affected my main sporting activity: running. I use it not only as a sports activity, but to relax, most of the time it is running that I come up with solutions to problems.

And I am a great fan of running. I started before it became fashionable, before the term ‘running’ was imposed in Spain. But I am glad that this sport has spread in recent times as it has done because, among other things, the materials have improved a lot. Without going any further, some running laces – XTENEX are a great advance for those of us who take this sport seriously because they are laces that do not need adjustments once installed.

But when I started with knee problems I had to put aside my beloved Xtenex lace-up shoes. I was recommended to rest while the problem cleared up, and it was a bad time. Accustomed as I was to going out for a run about five times a week, I didn’t know what to do with that weather. They recommended that I could substitute running for the pool or the bicycle, less aggressive sports with the knees, but I did not get used to one or the other.

With the bike it was a little better, but in the environment in which I live there are not enough bike lanes and it took me too long to get out of the city. So I was left with just a little gym while I waited for the diagnosis. It took a long time to arrive because there were many doubts when I had the MRI of whether the meniscus was damaged or not. Finally, they concluded that it was not. At the same time, the pain had disappeared so I took my running shoes – XTENEX out of the closet again and tried a couple of times with light runs to see how well my knee worked. And everything went well.
